The Silver Lining | Book meme

Saw this on a few LJer blogs and I am short on time today so this is perfect to post.

This can be a quick one. Don’t take too long to think about it. Fifteen books you’ve read that will always stick with you. First fifteen you can recall in no more than 15 minutes.

1. TWILIGHT by Stephenie Meyer
2. THE HANDMAID’S TALE by Margaret Atwood
3. A WRINKLE IN TIME by Madeline L’engle
4. FIGHT CLUB by Chuck Palahniuk
5. VAMPIRE ACADEMY by Richelle Mead
6. THE END OF THE AFFAIR by Grahame Green
8. HOMECOMING by Cynthia Voigt
9. VALLEY OF THE DOLLS by Jacqueline Susan
10. GUITAR GIRL by Sarra Manning
11. WINTERGIRLS by Laurie Halse Anderson
12. PRIDE AND PREJUDICE by Jane Austen
13. RULES OF ATTRACTION by Bret Easton Ellis
14. LOLITA by Vladimir Nabokov
15. GULLIVER’S TRAVELS by Jonathan Swift

*Note, there is one that definitely should be on this list, but since I’m retelling it and my agent wants me to keep which book I’m retelling a secret until it’s closer to submission, I can’t actually name it.
**For some reason the Babysitter’s Club book #8 BOY-CRAZY STACEY will always stick with me. I can recall the entire novel. But I felt stupid posting it so I put it as an amendment. (And btw, I did not have to look up which number the book was, that’s how vividly I remember it.)

  1. OMIGOSH! Boy Crazy Stacy. Is that the one where Stacy goes to the beach to babysit and falls in love with a boy named Toby? (After she falls in love with the lifeguard?) If I’m thinking of the right one, I LOVED that book.

    • Wow you remember a lot more than I do! I just remember the lifeguard and that she went to a restaurant with like, a lilypond theme or something like that. I think you’re right about the book! Ha! And I thought no one would know which one I was talking about!

  2. I already posted something else on my blog today, so may I temporarily hijack this and just post my stick-with-me books right here?

THE GREAT GATSBY (F. Scott Fitzgerald)
    TIME TRAVELER’S WIFE (Audrey Niffenegger)
A HORSE CALLED WONDER (Joanna Campbell)
    GREAT EXPECTATIONS (Charles Dickens)
    AMELIA’S NOTEBOOK (Marissa Moss)
    LITTLE WOMEN (Louisa May Alcott)
    LITTLE MEN (Louisa May Alcott)
ANNE OF GREEN GABLES (Lucy Maud Montgomery … lots of memories connected with this one)
SAY GOODNIGHT, GRACIE (Julie Reece Deaver)
    TARRAGON ISLAND (Nikki Tate)
    BETWEEN FRIENDS (Debbie Macomber)
    MORETA (Anne McAffrey)
    LITTLE BY LITTLE (Jean Little)
REBEL OF DARK CREEK (Nikki Tate)

I betcha as soon as I post this I’ll come up with twenty more. Ha!

    • Very interesting list! I like Little Women too, but I couldn’t fit it on mine. I haven’t read most of yours, maybe I’ll go check some out. Thanks for posting!

  3. OMG – I just reacquired my own copy of BOY-CRAZY STACEY from my parent’s house last month! It’s in a sealed box, so I might just have to dig it out and have a read again (it’s been 30-odd years since the last time!) I also nabbed all of my Sweet Valley Highs too :o)

    • Oh wow! You have to tell me what you think of it now! I used to love the Sweet Valley High books too (and I had a board game I think?) I am jealous!
