The Silver Lining | March Madness check in day 26

First, I’m so excited about the overwhelming response to the Veronica Mars re-watch and discuss! I’m gathering a time schedule and will get that up shortly. I’m thinking we won’t have our first discussion until the second week in April to give people time to watch the first episode and also in case anyone else wants to join.

Second, we’re in the home stretch for March Madness! How is everyone doing? I can’t believe how fast this month has zoomed by. I always find at the end of the month or the end of Nano when I see the finish line, I get re-energized and excited to complete the final scenes. In the middle of the month, it seems so daunting to get to the end, but you’re close now! It’s an attainable goal! And even if you’ve fallen behind, progress is still progress.

Let me know how you’re doing!

  1. I’m excited — I’m at p. 147/154 in my revision! Will make it to “The End” tonight or tomorrow, and then will use the remaining days of the month to write a few light scenes that may or may not make it into the MS (but I’m looking forward to writing them, just the same). Happy writing to you! And happy wedding cake testing!!

      • Oh, no!! I hope since reporting this you’ve gone back and checked older backup copies and found what is lost. Let us know. When they involve the loss of data, computer glitches can drive you crazy. I sympathize!

        • I checked everything. It’s gone. I thought I had a partial hard copy version, but it’s gone too. I know it needed revision and work, and since writing the first chapter, I found things to change, but there were some scenes I really liked – the smelly fat man with the cracked toenails. I can’t believe it is all gone.

  2. Well, I just made my adjusted March goal. 40k. (40400, to be exact.) Yay!

I considered pushing myself to 50k – 2k a day is entirely doable – but I’m taking a break. I need to reconsider my plot and catch up on my reading. Come April, I’m diving back in.

And you have no idea how thrilled I am to have something to dive back into in the first place. I don’t think I’d have written a word yet without this challenge. It’s been spectacular!

  3. I finally pushed through one barrier and wrote a 600+ word scene. Sooooo happy! Like some of the rest of you, I’m just going to keep going and hope I’m able to work out this new ending before the end of the month. We can do it; we can!

  4. I always slow down as I approach the finish of a story. Not wanting it to end. I’m a couple of scenes away and forcing myself to get it done. Thanks for the encouragement.

  5. 500 words today.

I wish I could have done more though. Still, it’s not bad.

I started a bit too late on the march madness thing so I probably won’t be able to do much for the end of the month (only 4 days left!). But I’m hoping April is my crazy writing month. We’ll see what happens.

  6. So fun and encouraging to read of everyone’s progress! As for me, I’m going to have to write like crazy this last week to meet my goal, but I haven’t given up hope! Just settling in for an hour or two of work now…. 🙂

    Go, go, go, everyone!

  7. I will have to work like a fiend these last few days to make my goal (finished draft – another 10k words) but I’ve still made great progress and managed to get much further than I would have on my own. Thank you!

  8. 750 today

Not too bad… closing in on 20k!! SO HUGE for me to get that far on ONE project, I’m actually starting to get excited over the reality of finishing a WHOLE novel. I told myself at the beginning of the semester, I just had to finish a book. It didn’t have to be a GOOD book, it just had to be done. I think I’m actually going to do it, too!!! 😀
