The Silver Lining | What do you want in a website or blog?

I wanted to do a post on revising voice today but I only had time to draft half of it yesterday. I’m at work today and was hoping to get some downtime to finish it but I have to share a computer with a coworker so there goes that. I will post it on Friday instead.

In the meantime, I’m in the process of redesigning my website to be a little more functional and easy to update. I wanted to switch to a blog-based format to help with navigation and organization. Plus I want the blog and website in one place. There are a lot of things I dislike about LiveJournal so I’m going to be moving the blog over to WordPress (though I will still be cross-posting to LiveJournal for those that follow me here).

I’ve spent the last week teaching myself CSS and other coding techniques to get the site the way I want it and I had a lot of fun in Photoshop. It’s almost ready to go up, but I want to make sure I’m covering everything. So I need your help!

What do you like to see in a writer’s website? Any particular information? I’ve got a bio and info about my projects, but would you like a FAQ? Something else? What information do you look for in a bio? What do you want to know about the projects? Anything besides the premise? Like inspiration, outtakes, etc? Anything else you like to see in a writer’s website?

And in a blog, what particular features do you like in terms of navigation or commenting? Do you like there to be social networking buttons you can easily click to share the information? What is most useful to you on the sidebar? Stuff like that.

Basically, what am I forgetting? What would your ideal website/blog contain?

Thanks so much in advance for the help!
